Jobless

An article that cites its own source code

GitHub

Jobless is a job search app that won’t lie for you.[1]

People who use it report finding a job in 30 days.[citation needed]

Deleted: it cites nothing. In an application, the checker would do the same.

It runs on your own Mac.[2][3] It reads jobs from company job boards, scores them for fit, and writes your CV and cover note using only what you’ve confirmed about yourself.[4] Then it fills in the form in your Chrome and stops before Submit.[5] You press it.

How it works

Your record

Your career lives in Markdown files in a folder called vault/, with history in its own git repository.[9] An agent can draft entries from your CVs and projects, but each one stays a draft until you confirm it.[10] Drafts and entries you mark private never reach an application.[4]

Finding jobs

Jobless reads jobs straight from company job boards on Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workable and Recruitee.[11] Reading them uses no AI.[12] An agent then scores new matches against what you said you want, up to a daily limit you set.[13] A job post is treated as data, whatever it says.[14]

Writing the application

The agent that writes your CV is given your confirmed public entries and the job, and it has no tools,[15] so it can’t go looking for anything else. Every claim it writes has to cite an entry.[16] Then the checker runs, and you see what it removed and what the job asks for that your record doesn’t show.[17]

Filling in the form

A second agent fills in the form in your own Chrome and stops before Submit.[5] It has no script tool,[18] and it hands back to you at a captcha, a login, account creation or a payment.[19]

Reading your email

A third agent can only search and read Gmail.[20] News about an application waits for your OK, unless you turn on automatic updates.[21]

The checker

A claim is deleted if it cites nothing, cites an entry the writer wasn’t given, or states a number its sources don’t have.[1][22][23] Try it: change a number, or change what a claim cites.

What the agent wrote

    What reaches your CV

A made-up example, running in your browser with the same number rule as the app.[24] Nothing you type leaves this page.

    What it can’t promise

    • That it will never press Submit. Its clicks can’t be technically limited,[25] so this rests on its instructions and on you watching it work.
    • That a job page can’t trick it. Agents are told to treat what they read as data, and that can fail.[26]
    • That you’ll get a job. This page has no testimonials because there aren’t any.

    Testing

Two scripts test the limits using real agent runs, on your own Claude plan. One tries forbidden actions, such as writing outside the vault or reading a .env file.[27] The other scores a job post with planted instructions, which has to score under 30 and get flagged.[28]

When they were last run, on 5 November 2026, all 12 runs came out as expected and the planted post scored 3 out of 100.[own runs, no record in the repo] So don’t take this page’s word for it: run them yourself.

    Your data

The dashboard has no login. It answers only on 127.0.0.1[2] and refuses requests that name any other host,[29][30] so keep it off your network. Your record and database stay out of the app’s repository.[31] They’re plain files on your disk, and nothing is backed up unless you do it.[32]
